Activities - What do we do?

Open day at the Day Care Centre for Adults with Learning Difficulties  Gaining day to day experience in growing plants  In the kitchen at the Day Care Centre for adults with learning disabilities in Northampton

On our land, we grow potatoes and hay; and in our greenhouses we grow vegetables, plants and flowers of all sorts.

We make up hanging baskets and planted containers, and produce garden objects like bird feeders and decorative features.

Our Centre shop is open more or less every day.

You may work in any or all departments of the Centre: planting the fields, harvesting, sorting, bagging up, planting, potting, watering, making, displaying and selling the Centre’s produce and products.

Increasingly, you will have the opportunity to have contact with others outside the Centre – working alongside them, serving them in the shop, or socialising. You may also learn and carry out simple DIY and other jobs around the Centre, like the repair and maintenance of farm machinery, our buildings, and tools and equipment.

On certain days we run informal meal preparation, and tutored sessions on basic and life skills, to help you cope with living independently.

You will be supported in all these activities.

You can relax with other clients, carers, staff and volunteers in the TV lounge, or play pool.

All this in a small, friendly social environment.
